Wilsonville, Oregon

Wilsonvillage is a proposed pedestrian community of small houses clustered around a green space on 1.6 acres. These small houses and cottages, designed in the craftsman style and Victorian style with wrap around porches are oriented either on the main green common space or on the walkways leading to it. The common space is anchored by a commons building consisting of a main room with a toilet and kitchenette is to be used by the residents for entertaining and meetings. The 3 garages and 1 covered carport are located on the periphery of the site.

Each residence, either a single family, or with accessory dwelling unit (ADU) or the duplexes are designed to have its own separate yard, to be delineated by landscaping and small fencing will provide sense of privacy and ownership. Also, each residence being designed for the older generation have a small master suite on the main level. The ADU’s where provided are on the second floor.

Garages are designed to congregate the parking away from the residences. Each garage also have two units that can be used for offices, ADU, guest rooms or exercise rooms, for a total of 6 additional units.

A particular design challenge is to design for the central focus of this community, which is the pedestrian green spaces located in the middle and also needed to respond to the larger neighborhood that this community is planned to reside in.

Therefore these houses also have porches, generous windows and for those units with garages facing the two streets, single car carriage garage doors.
